About Dr. Vischer

Of German decent, born & raised in Belgium, I came to the United States in 1980 not speaking any English. Eventually attending Rutgers University, I began my veterinary education at the University of Illinois, graduating in 1992. I spent a year in Arizona for an internship, returning to the University of Illinois to begin my 3-year residency in Internal Medicine. I arrived in Upstate New York in 1996, attaining my Diplomate status by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Dipl.ACVIM) in 1997, and I started specializing in lameness diagnoses. I finished certification by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 1997 and pursued education in spinal manipulation, finishing those requirements in 2000. In October 2000 I started North East Performance Equine. That I love what I do, and am appreciated for it, is a dream come true. It does not matter whether medicine is old or new, so long as it brings about a positive result for horse and owner. It matters not whether theories are eastern or western, but that I am in the unique position to use both to meet the performance needs of my client’s horses as need be, that has given me great success.
