Newsletters Winter, 2003/2004 Happy New Year! We would really like to thank everyone who made our Holiday Gala such a huge success this year. We had such a tremendous response for attendance and it was a great financial success. There are so many to thank from the Gala committee, to the attendees, to those who couldn't attend but sponsored someone else, those who sent donations, those who donated silent auction items, Spectrum Graphics & Karen Spencer for donating the invitations and the beautiful booklet, White Horse Wine & Liquors and Rivendall Winery for donating the wine, and Cappucino by Coppola's for the beautiful room. We tried something new at the Gala and the results were fantastic. We started an "Adopt a Horse" campaign that we will run all year long. We had a total of $13,000 in pledges! The pledge boards will be posted in the barn in the very near future. Just to give you and example of how your dollars can help, Magic was sponsored by Mona Payton and Nancy Stringham with each pledging $500. This pledge will pay for Magic's farrier costs and routine medical expenses for the year with a little left over. Please consider this wonderful gift for your favorite mount! Thank you to Andy Woodner for donating her time and materials to make the pledge boards! Kathryn Windley made an incredible video which is a tribute to Deb Dows. It is beautifully done and I invite anyone who didn't see it in its entirety at the Gala or at the Annual Meeting to stop by the office and see it. We will have them available in the hear future for individuals. Thank you Kathryn! Lesson Program - There is a new fee schedule in place for lessons. We have not raised prices, per say, but have restructured the fee scale. We are offering a slight discount for weekdays in an effort to encourage new business and to fill our down times. There is now only one prepaid package offered and it is for group lessons purchased in packages of 10. These lessons must be paid for in advance in order to get the package price!!! The minimum membership donation is the same in order to pay the member prices - $200 for adults and $100 for juniors. Remember, your membership donation is fully tax deductible and we qualify for many corporate gift matching programs. Please consider increasing your donation by even $50, you'd be surprised how much that would add up to if every member did so. Thank you to Elaine for a great winter camp session. We had between 15 and 19 students daily for a exciting day of instruction, both mounted and on the ground and even cooking with Natalie! Thanks as well to Natalie Grow and Kaileen Rohr for their assistance. We are planning a spring camp session over the break, so mark your calendars! Boarding - We do have stalls available, so please keep that in mind if you hear of people looking for a wonderful place to keep their horse. Clinics - We are delighted to welcome Allison Kavey over the Martin Luther King holiday, January 19th and 20th. She currently trains with international dressage star, Uve Steiner. Allison works with horses and riders of all types and levels. A clinic with her is a great opportunity for students to improve their overall understanding of how good flatwork can aid up in all aspects of riding. The sign up sheet is posted outside the office. Private - $100, Semi - $85, Group of 3 - $75 Other News - Thanks to all of you that responded to the member surveys we sent out. What a talented membership we have! One thing many people suggested was an involvement with 4-H. I wanted to let you know Lenny Miller is taking the 4-H leadership training and will be heading up our 4-H program. He has already secured many types of mommies and their babies for the spring and is getting the East Barn spruced up. We will keep you posted on this exciting new program. |
