What Will the Program Look Like?

IEA practice groups will take place once a week at Southlands in a group lesson format, with riders placed into groups based on their riding level. Practice groups will be offered on:

● Tuesdays at 4:30 or 5:30 PM

● Thursdays at 4:30 or 5:30 PM

Riders will participate in one IEA group lesson each week. IEA shows offer classes ranging from beginner walk/trot through advanced levels, including over-fences classes. Riders earn individual points at each show that contribute to the team's overall score, with opportunities to advance through Regional, Zone, and National competition.

Program Costs

There are several costs associated with participating in IEA. Some expenses are consistent throughout the season, while show-related costs vary depending on the competition. Weekly IEA Practice Lessons Riders are required to participate in one IEA group lesson each week. There are two monthly lesson options:

● $260 per month - includes four IEA group lessons

● $240 per month - includes four IEA group lessons when the rider also schedules four private lessons during that same month

The four private lessons are in addition to the required weekly group lessons.

IEA Membership

Approximately $60 per rider per year, paid directly to IEA.

Horse Show Fees

Show entry fees vary depending on the host facility. Riders should expect approximately $30–$65 per class. Riders will participate in two classes per show, making estimated class entry fees approximately $60–$130 per show, before coaching and other show-related expenses.

Coaching will be $100 per rider, per show.

Show Attire & Equipment Riders will need appropriate show attire and an approved riding helmet. Some show clothing and equipment can be purchased once and used throughout the season. Southlands also has a limited amount of show-appropriate clothing and equipment that has been generously donated over the years. Availability and sizing will vary. Scholarship & Financial-Aid Opportunities IEA is committed to making equestrian sport more accessible to young riders.

IEA provides approximately $1.5 million in cash and renewable scholarships each season, along with financial-aid and grant opportunities. Scholarship opportunities can help eligible riders pursue their equestrian goals while participating in IEA competition. Understanding Show Costs Because IEA competitions are hosted at different facilities, there is no single standard show fee. Before each show, families will receive information about the expected costs associated with that particular competition so there are no surprises when it is time to register.
